About Home-Start Camden and Islington

Home-Start Camden and Islington is a registered charity dedicated to supporting families with at least one child under the age of five. Through a combination of practical help, friendship, and professional guidance, we aim to prevent family crises and create a strong foundation for families in need.

Our volunteers are at the heart of our work, and now we’re looking for a committed individual to assist with vital behind-the-scenes tasks that help us run smoothly and reach more families.

About the Role

As an Admin and Social Media Support Volunteer, you’ll play a key role in keeping our operations efficient and our message strong. From managing our social media channels to supporting our day-to-day office tasks, your contributions will help us make a bigger impact in Camden and Islington.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administrative Support:
    • Assist the Operations Manager with administrative tasks, such as managing emails, answering phone calls, and maintaining office systems.
    • Process new referrals and ensure messages are directed to the right team members.
    • Organise and maintain the office space, including shredding paperwork, photocopying, and greeting visitors.
    • Prepare meeting rooms for events, training sessions, and conferences.
    • Distribute promotional materials to community spaces.
  • Social Media Management:
    • Create engaging, inclusive, and informative content for Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn.
    • Monitor social media engagement, report on performance, and brainstorm ways to enhance outreach.
    • Develop relationships with organisations, influencers, and brands to amplify our message.
    • Design posters and visuals using Canva to promote events and campaigns.

What We’re Looking For:

We’re seeking someone who is:

  • Proactive and eager to take initiative.
  • Creative, with a keen eye for crafting engaging content.
  • Familiar with social media platforms and trends (or willing to learn).
  • Skilled in Canva or interested in developing design skills.
  • Organised and attentive to detail.

The Commitment

We’re asking for one day per week—Tuesday or Wednesday—from 9:30 am to 4:00 pm. The role is based at our office in Kentish Town (7 Dowdney Close, NW5 2BP).
