About Us
We are a grass-roots charity that supports and empowers parents with children under five who are struggling to cope.
Our volunteers are given bespoke training and matched with a family to best meet the family’s needs. They visit the families in their home and provide non-judgmental, peer-to-peer, practical and emotional support.
All volunteers have parenting experience so they know what families are going through. Support is confidential, compassionate and totally responsive to the needs of the family.
To receive support from us all we need to know is that you:
- Live in Camden or Islington
- Have a child or children under the age of five
- Be in need of a little extra help
Home-Start Camden and Islington is a life-line, they are always there for me and my family

Our organisation
Home-Start Camden & Islington is affiliated to the national organisation, Home-Start UK, but we are autonomous and responsible for our own management and securing our own funding. Home-Start UK provides advice and support to over 300 Home-Start schemes around the UK and manages a stringent Quality Assurance review process to ensure schemes operates effectively.
The Charity is governed by an experienced board of trustees, and there are eight members of staff. Our network of trained volunteers visit families at home and help support around 193 families annually.
