Home-Start Camden & Islington

There for parents when they need us most, because childhood can't wait!

Volunteering

You can help Home-Start Camden and Islington (HSC&I) and change the lives of our local families in many ways:

  • By supporting a family as a Family Support Volunteer
  • By helping us with fundraising events as a Fundraising Volunteer
  • By helping us through publicity, marketing and communications by becoming a Friend of HSC&I
  • By becoming a Trustee

“Being an ex-family of Home Start and after a volunteer it’s been an amazing opportunity that I was offered. It is amazing how I used my lived-in experience in order to support other mum in order to support their children and family. Volunteering taught me how to support professionally and in a friendly manner at the same time. It builds up my confidence.”

An ex family and Home-Start Volunteer

Our Family Support Volunteers come from many different backgrounds and vary in age. All of them are either parents themselves or have parenting experience. They are here to provide emotional support to our families by visiting them for 2-4 hours a week in their house.

Home-Start Camden and Islington raise our  own funds to keep running our family support services.  One way we achieve this is through via events we organise or by encouraging others to do sponsored events on our behalf.  We always welcome anyone who wants to become Fundraising Volunteer and help us with these fundraising activities. If you are interested in it, but not sure about family support volunteer, we do have different options for you.

The alternative way to support our local charity charity is by becoming a Friend of Home-Start Camden and Islington. In this way, you can help us organise events, promote our activities and grow our Social Media accounts. We only ask for a commitment of 5 days a year.

If you would like to be part of our volunteering team please contact us.

The Home-Start Camden & Islington Board of Trustees is made up of local people from a wide range of backgrounds. The main requirements of a trustee is to have real interest in the family support work, a willingness to be involved and active running of the charity. The committee ensures correct governance and is responsible for the financial security of the organisation.

“Home-Start Camden & Islington is a grass-roots charity that supports and empowers families with young children who are struggling to cope with everyday life. Our vision is a Camden & Islington community in which all families have the support they need to give their children the best possible start in life, and where our volunteers are valued and encouraged.”
