Ciara Jeffries, Chief Executive Officer

Ciara brings to Home-Start Camden & Islington a leadership shaped by over two decades in children’s services and early help. Her career has been driven by a strong belief in the transformative power of compassionate, well-rooted support for families, and the positive impact it has on children’s futures. Having delivered parenting classes and one-to-one support to parents and being a parent of two daughters herself, Ciara leads with first-hand understanding of the challenges families face and the approaches that work.

At Home-Start Camden & Islington, Ciara champions a vision that sees families as the centre of our future. She leads with compassion, integrity, and vision, building on the charity’s grassroots heritage while strengthening its capacity to support more parents and children.

Charmain, Head of Delivery

Charmain joined Home-Start Camden & Islington in May 2026, bringing a career rooted in safeguarding, children and young people. She strongly believes in the difference that good support can make to families, communities and volunteers.

Her experience spans schools, grassroots football, social care and child mental health. Working alongside children, parents, teachers, coaches, carers, volunteers and professionals, her aim has always been to support, listen and encourage. Having worked with various charities, she has seen first-hand the impact that community-based support can have on people’s lives and is particularly driven to creating environments where children and families can thrive.

Having volunteered with Home-Start herself many years ago, Charmain has a personal connection to the organisation and understands the value of the volunteer relationship from both sides.

At Home-Start, she is passionate about supporting the staff and volunteers who make the work possible, while ensuring that the children at the heart of the organisation remain at the centre of everything they do.

Anna, Family Liaison Manager

Anna has worked with Homestart for 10 years and feels privileged to work in a role that enables her to provide a unique and flexible approach to family support.

Anna has always put families at the heart of every job she has had, using her insight and empathy to gain the trust of families facing difficult periods or challenges in their lives.

She brings an energetic and holistic approach to her work, enabling families to flourish and gain independence.

Akanksha, Family Liaison Manager

Aka joined Home-Start Camden and Islington in September 2026. She has over six years’ experience in the charity sector, with a background in mental health, domestic violence and housing.

Aka loves meeting people, hearing their stories and building genuine connections. She believes families know their own circumstances best and should be able to decide what support is right for them. For Aka, good connections take time, a good coffee and, ideally, a chocolate Hobnob.

Soumia, Community Events and Volunteer Coordinator

As Community Events and Volunteer Coordinator, Soumia is passionate about providing access to a supportive community and bringing people together to combat isolation.

With a background in mental health and supporting young people, she understands the importance of emotional wellbeing and creating safe, welcoming spaces. As well as the impact this can have on children’s development in the long-term.

Soumia enjoys facilitating relationships with both families and volunteers to ensure that everyone interacting with the service feels connection, kindness, and collective support.

Eleni, Operations Manager

Eleni joining Home-Start on June 2022.

Eleni is in charge of the Communications, Social Media and Volunteer Recruitment and has managed to drastically improve the social media of the organisation and to recruit more than 50 volunteers!

She has an Economics background and successfully running her own agricultural business. And an MSc in Psychology from Glasgow University.

Madalina, Bookkeeper

Madelina is a mother of two and her family has been always been her priority.

She joined Home-Start Camden and Islington in September 2018 as bookkeeper. At the same time she started her University course. She graduated in July 2021 and now has a BA in Accounting and Finance from London South Bank University.

She also works in private sector as Junior Accountant.
