Are you a family in need of support?
If you are a parent going through a difficult time, Home-Start Camden & Islington may be able to help by matching you and your family with a trained volunteer with parenting experience who can visit you at home 3-4 hours a week.
You need to:
- Live in the Borough of Camden or Borough of Islington
- Have one or more child under the age of five
- Be in need of a little extra help
There are many reasons why you may choose Home-Start. Perhaps you are:
- Feeling isolated
- Suffering with post-natal depression and maybe finding it hard to talk to anyone about it
- Having a hard time coping with your child’s illness or disability
- Struggling with the demands of twins, triplets or children under 5
- Finding it hard to cope with relationship difficulties
- Coping with your own illness or disability
- In financial hardship or poor housing
Refer Someone:
If you are a Family support worker, Health visitor, Doctor, Social worker or any other professional working with families and you feel someone would benefit from our service, you can make a referral on their behalf with their consent. Please complete our Referral Form or phone us on 020 7099 6041 to discuss the family situation.
Refer Yourself:
If you are a parent looking for support, we are happy to take self-referrals. Please complete our Referral Form or phone us on 020 7099 6041 to discuss your situation with us. The form is simple, you can complete it yourself. Please call our office if you need help or ask someone else such as your GP or health visitor to do it for you.
How we help
Our trained volunteers are there to offer you whatever help you need. Our support is confidential, flexible and responsive to your needs and can include:
- being a listening ear
- friendship and emotional support
- helping and playing with your children
- giving encouragement and motivation
- giving practical help
Waiting Lists
We do not operate a waiting list: family support is governed by the availability and suitability of our trained volunteers. We will always give you guidance as to the current situation regarding volunteer availability.
