As we step into a new year, we are taking a moment to reflect on some very special moments from the end of 2025, while also looking ahead with optimism and ambition. From inspiring speeches and heartfelt goodbyes to festive celebrations and exciting plans for the year ahead, it has been a powerful time for our Home-Start Camden & Islington community.
New Volunteer Preparation Course starting in February
Our next Volunteer Preparation Course will begin on Thursday 5 February. The sessions will run weekly on Thursdays. In total, the course includes seven sessions. Please note, there will be no session on Thursday 19 February.
Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back to your community. For many, it also makes a powerful New Year’s resolution. Through Home-Start, volunteers support families with young children. This support takes place across Camden and Islington. To learn more about volunteering with us, please visit check here.
Dream Big: Our Annual General Meeting
This year, we hosted an extra special Annual General Meeting at the British Library. With our theme, Dream Big, the evening was a wonderful opportunity to reflect on our achievements and share our plans for the future.
Guests learned more about our upcoming initiatives and long-term vision, leaving the evening feeling inspired and excited about what 2026 holds for Home-Start.
One of the most moving moments came from a mother we supported in the past. She shared her family’s journey and spoke passionately about the lasting impact Home-Start has had on their lives. Her words resonated deeply with everyone present.
We also took time to say goodbye to a valued staff member who has been with the organisation for 30 years. Together, we celebrated their dedication, commitment, and incredible contribution over the decades.
We are especially grateful to the British Library for hosting the AGM. Their generous support helped make the evening truly memorable.
A magical Christmas for our families
This Christmas felt particularly warm and joyful, thanks to the support of our community. We are deeply grateful to everyone who donated gifts. Your generosity helped create special moments and made a real difference for so many families.
Our Family Christmas Party, held at Kentish Town Community Centre, was a wonderful celebration. The day was filled with laughter, smiles, and shared excitement as children opened their presents. Santa even made a special appearance, adding extra magic to the occasion.
We would also like to thank our corporate volunteers from Mace Group and Cripps, as well as our family support volunteers. Your time, care, and energy were essential in making the day run smoothly and ensuring everyone had a memorable experience.
November highlights
November was a month full of learning, reflection, and connection. We were delighted to welcome five new volunteers to our team, all of whom successfully completed the Volunteer Preparation Course. Their arrival strengthens our Home-Start community and helps us reach even more families.

At the same time, our families took part in a Dream Board workshop with guidance from Zoe and Anna. Parents explored their hopes and future plans, organising their thoughts in a creative and visual way. Dream boards are a powerful tool, helping families reflect on goals, stay focused, and build confidence as they look ahead.

In addition, our mothers enjoyed a self-defence taster class at Luciano Cristova Academy. The team were welcoming and supportive from the start, helping everyone learn practical moves and build confidence. We are incredibly grateful to Luciano and his team for providing such a positive experience, and we look forward to future collaboration.
Later in the month, our volunteers attended the Early Years Volunteer Partnership Annual Celebration 2025 in Camden. It was an inspiring afternoon, full of warmth, meaningful conversations, and community spirit. The event reminded us of the power of working together and the importance of being part of a supportive network.

As we look ahead to 2026, we feel hopeful and determined. We are ready to achieve our big dreams, and together we will continue to support families across Camden and Islington. If you would like to learn more or get support us please check here.
