This month we’re excited to share that we’re welcoming in our new Head of Delivery, Charmain. Here is a letter from her:
“I’m delighted to be joining Home-Start Camden & Islington. Bringing with me a strong background in safeguarding, partnership working, and supporting children and families across a range of settings.
Most recently, I was the Safeguarding Manager at London FA, where I led a number of impactful initiatives to strengthen safeguarding practice. During my time there, safeguarding progressed significantly. From achieving an outstanding Safeguarding 365 assessment result to being recognised as best in class for compliance by both The FA and NSPCC. I was proud to lead the redevelopment of key processes, including enhancing programmes and working collaboratively to create an innovative animation aimed at helping children understand that their voice matters.
Prior to this, I worked as a Quality and Impact Manager within Buckinghamshire Council,within the safeguarding partnership and board. My career has spanned multiple London boroughs and beyond. Across voluntary and statutory sectors, including education, therapeutic services, social care, and sport. This has given me a well-rounded perspective on the challenges and opportunities facing children, young people, and families.
Home-Start holds a special place for me, as I volunteered with the organisation many years ago when my own children were young. That experience has stayed with me, and I’m excited to return in a new capacity. I’m particularly passionate about expanding the range of support and resources available, and helping reach even more families. I’m really looking forward to getting started, meeting everyone, and contributing to the incredible work already happening.”
