On Sunday the 31st of March, Easter will be here again! Whilst it may have come quickly, that doesn’t mean you can’t be prepared with some activities for your children.
Enjoy the selection below of some reasonably priced things to do for that special Sunday just around the corner.
Painted eggs
This may be a classic in some households, or even a competition at certain schools. It is the perfect mid afternoon activity, with an Easter film on and a tea to go with it. It is an easy and cheap craft, with just a couple eggs to be handy or spare. Simply hard boil the eggs, and get painting! This activity can let your children be creative with feathers, felt tip pens, paint, stickers; anything that brings there idea to life. They may take inspiration from their favorite tv or book character. You could do portraits in egg style, and have them on display. Even decorate them like a family member your children maybe seeing that day. It is fun and trouble free, making it the ideal Easter craft!

Easter cards
If your children love crafts, then let them be creative with another easy craft. This could be a morning activity, to become an ideal gift for grandparents, or other parents in the afternoon. It requires any card or paper you have spare, and any decorating supplies you may have.
Ideas for the amazing front covers your children create could be;
- A glittery Easter egg
- A brown or white bunny
- ‘Happy Easter’ to practice their spelling
- A baby yellow chick
- A basket of Easter eggs; all colors your children decide
The creativity to this craft is endless. Your children may want to make cards for their friends before Easter weekend, or after so that the festivities continue!
Easter quiz
An activity for all to enjoy! This can be a creative activity for parents to enjoy too; by thinking of questions all about Easter for your children on Easter Sunday. The younger children could pair up with the older ones or a parent, if you want to throw in some trickier ones.
Some ideas for fun questions;
- What color is a baby chick? Yellow
- What is a baby rabbit called? Bunny
- What is the typical flower of Easter? Lily
- What is the animal represented with Easter? Rabbit/Bunny
- What are the chocolate eggs that have white filling? Cadbury’s cream egg
- What type of buns are traditional at Easter? Hot Cross Buns
These are just some general ideas, parents can take inspiration from. They can be made easier or harder depending on the age of your children, and could be changed in anyway you like!
Easter Hunt
Although an Easter hunt is usually with chocolate eggs, it can be any theme or idea you like! For example, a hunt for the most colored eggs. They could be card cut outs, all hidden around your home; with a chocolate egg as a prize. It could also be the hard-boiled eggs you may have painted earlier. Your children could have 10 minutes to find their creations, to have a warm hot cross bun waiting for them as they finish. You could find a little bag of chocolate eggs and place them in their room on the morning of Easter. Your children could have a whole day of finding them, as a more on-going activity.

We hope you enjoy these activities from Home-Start Camden & Islington, and change them in any way you like! They can be spread across from Good Friday to Easter Sunday, or all in one afternoon; the fun is completely up to you and your children.
