This month has been full of activity, connection, and community across Home-Start Camden & Islington. From celebrating Easter together and welcoming new volunteers into the team, to running training sessions and sharing time with families through our carefully curated activities. There’s been plenty to reflect on and celebrate as we continue building support for families across our boroughs.
New Volunteer Preparation Course Starting May 14
Our next Volunteer Preparation Course will begin on Thursday 14 May. The sessions will run weekly on Thursdays. In total, the course includes seven sessions.
Volunteering is a meaningful way to give back to your community. Through Home-Start, volunteers support families with young children. This support takes place across Camden and Islington. To learn more about volunteering with us, please visit check here.
February Training
Our February training programme has now come to an end. We’re excited to welcome 15 amazing new volunteers to the team.
We’re also pleased to introduce three new admin volunteers and one new social media volunteer, all bringing fresh energy, skills, and enthusiasm to support our work going forward.
As we prepare for the next cycle of training and welcoming new volunteers, we’re looking forward to building on this momentum and continuing to grow our community of support.
Highlights of the March and April
March was filled with moments of community, connection, and togetherness. From coffee mornings across the month, to celebrating International Women’s Day at Kilburn Grange Children’s Centre. Families came together to share food, conversations, and time with one another in a relaxed and welcoming space.
We also spent a special day at Kentish Town City Farm, where families got stuck into hands-on activities. Feeding the goats, watering plants, planting together, and enjoying simple moments like sharing breakfast and eating apples fresh from the farm.

On the 28th of March our families started a vibrant 10-week art course at the Foundling Museum in Camden. The course is filled with creativity, colour, and hands-on activities. Offering a wonderful opportunity to explore artistic expression and enjoy time together in a fun and supportive environment.
Across everything, it’s been about people coming together, spending time with each other, and building community in meaningful, everyday ways.
Easter Celebration

On Friday 10th April, our office came together with our families to celebrate Easter with a day full of community spirit, kindness, and generosity.
A huge thank you to Cripps for their amazing volunteers who helped make the day such a success.
We’re also incredibly grateful to Marlborough Highways for generously providing the Easter eggs, and to Leiho for supplying wonderful crafts and materials that brought so much creativity to the celebrations.

Special thanks as well to Essential Care Collective for their thoughtful and super useful care packages for our families, and of course to the Caring Family Foundation for their continued support throughout all of our food bank work.
We’re grateful to everyone who contributed to making the day so meaningful for our families.
In the third week of April, we visited the Charles Dickens Museum with a group of our families, alongside our lovely staff and volunteers.
It was a fantastic opportunity to step back in time together and explore the life and work of Charles Dickens. Families enjoyed walking through the historic rooms, learning what life was like in Victorian London, and discovering more about the stories that shaped British literature.
